Developmental Issues - Assignment ExampleFrom birth, children learn a lot from their surrounding. Their environmental factors also influence their lives. They do not adopt or construct any behavior biologically, but rather do so culturally. The culture makes a child label things as right or wrong, traffic pattern or abnormal. One of the most important lessons that young children learn is the gender sections and their qualities. These are taught through different mediums, intentionally or unintentionally. The mediums can be their parents, community, and culture or through the media to which they are exposed. The researchers have debated a lot on this matter and they have proven that a vital source for gender role stereotyping is television and it is the most powerful medium. Children learn actually quickly from television and set great standards for children behavior, beliefs and policies (Witt, 2000). Gender role stereotyping is the socially and culturally define prescriptions and beliefs or so the behavior and emotions of men and women (Signorielli, 1991). Actions are thought of as masculine or feminine and the actions that are associated with males are resistant to any change. Researchers agree that children establish sex-roles very early in life and that television contribute a lot in creating gender-role expectations (Witt, 2000). ... The physical appearance and jobs assigned to the character are often found on the traditional stereotyping. Females are never seen as the heroes or the min character of the cartoon. They are mostly in the supporting roles. The females are shown as wellhead dressed, pretty, and delicate and problem creators, while the males are shown as powerful, successful and problem solvers. There are many examples of gender stereotyping and violence in the cartoons for example, superman, Spiderman, Scooby doo, Flintstones, teenage version ninja turtles etc (Schmuckler,1998). I watched different cartoons and television shows that por tray gender roles. It was evident in almost every television show, but the one that I feel had very clear examples for this was Rugrats. It has three boys and two girls. Angelica is portrayed as reluctant, creates clashes and acts as the boss to all. The boys are shown as the helpers, well wishers, fighting for everyone and handling the reluctant Angelica. And in the end of every episode, angelica is proved wrong and left out by all the other babies. In this cartoon, girls are shown as bossy, rude and everywhere confident which is naturally not true. And the boys are shown as polite, friendly and loyal. This is not the only example even Disney cartoons have gender role stereotyping be it rice paddy Mouse, Donald fudge, Cinderella or any other cartoon. Most of them have very few female characters. For example there are very less episodes in which Donald ducks wife made an appearance. In Cinderella, women are shown as delicate, beautiful, hard working and caring. Human Mental States Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Human Mental States - Essay ExampleAt this point, I would support the perspective taken by Doctor 2 about the impossibility of determining whether a person has many mental states. This matter cannot be determined with sheer(a) certainty. However, I still hold onto the view that determining mental states remains a complex issue and could only be subject to matters of observation. The patient has shown some remarkable strength of character including good memory. She also behaves in a manner that is perfectly logical and determinate. It is important to consider some of the factors that determine the conception of a soul outside the condition of an organic brain. This brings into perspective the question of the soul and body. I hold the view that the mind and body are not entirely connected. The mind is independent of the body. The soul cerebrates to the body through some kind of a complex consanguinity that may not necessarily relate to the organic brain. On this note, it becomes n ecessary to inquire into the alliance between the immaterial soul and the body. Such an inquiry could also involve a study of the relationship between the mind and the body.A non-material soul could exist even in the absence of the non-organic brain. This is because there is no absolute evidence that links the non-material essences of existence to the material. The relationship could be more complex than the presumed correspondence between the mind and the body. On this matter, it becomes necessary to investigate the precise relationship between the mind and the body from the proportion of their points of contact.

It dates back to 10,000 years ago when all the human societies depended upon hunting wild animals and searching for wild plants to rifle upon. Till the 20th century, this had been a pattern of subsistence in some societies especially in areas such as tropical forests and deserts which were environmentally marginal areas. Foragers ceaselessly depend on the environment for their resources. They dont plant or domesticate animals and depend on their own manpower to carry out their subsistence tasks. The campaign is done by families or friends in small g roups. These societies dont have an occupational choice and it is definite that the man would be the animal hunting watch and the woman would be the gatherer of plants (Prins, 2010).Pastoralism is a pattern of subsistence where people domesticate large herds of animals to make their living. Pastoralists would tend to domesticate different species and types of animals according to the region in which they are living. Most of these animals are herbivores that eat grasses. Horses are common specie for pastoralists in Central Asia while in East Africa, cattle is the common specie. In southwest Asia the animals are sheep and goats and in lowland areas of East Africa and Southwest Asia, camels are the common specie (Prins, 2010). Annotated Bibliography on Mark Twain's The War Prayer
On recognise duettes The War Prayer - Annotated Bibliography ExampleJohn Trombold is a multiple contributor, and uses this try on to attack the American concepts of Manifest Destiny. The work is a public plea calling for Americans to educate themselves as to the reasoning behind constant war waging. The source is recent, published in 2006, and poignantly reviews historical facts from the American World Wars up to and including our current military occupation in Iraq, and Afghanistan. This resource would not be a significant contributor to an essay on Mark Twains work, The War Prayer. The majority of the content is given to out of date American political policy as it was created by Theodore Roosevelt. Trombold attacks Roosevelt for openly lying to the public round the need for a war and for using the American peoples trust to futher his own financial gains. The source neither supports nor weakens Mark Twains The War Prayer. The essay asks the American referee of 2008 to think inst ead how our abroad policies should differ from that of Roosevelts traditional war hungry America. In this critical analysis of Mark Twain essays, author David Zmijeski details how Twain was commissi 1d by the American Government as a political, and literary advocate in favor of Americas attempts to annex and acquire the Sandwich Islands. The article gives a detailed account of exactly how/why/when Mark Twain openly supported the idea of increasing trade and acquiring land from Hawaii, and mainland China. This article is pedantic in nature, written exclusively for the Hawaiian Journal of History, and republished with permission in 2007. The Journal began in 1967 and publishes articles and essays exclusively about the history and legacy of the Pacific Islands. Zmijewski bases his essay on factual correspondence written by Mark Twain to the American government about the Polynesian and Sandwich Islands. Mark Twain is quoted lots as adamantly advocating for less military and political A merican presence around the world, yet Zmijewski displays for the reader multiple correspondences in which Twain supports the opening of rationalize trade with the Hawaiian Islands and calls for an American Military presence of some sort. The Hawaiian Journal releases the records and Zmijewski uses Twains own writing to contradict his longtime opposition of American foreign involvement. This particular article would be of great interest and support to a paper on Mark Twains the War Prayer. It is one of the few works that documenting the hush-hush dichotomy between what Twain privately believes in and what he asks the American public to believe. The great American master is caught denouncing Westward Expansion on one hand while simultaneously calling for financial and military support to acquire Hawaii on the other. Caplan, David. Persepolis and Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and...Spring Essay
Persepolis and Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and...Spring - Essay ExampleIt is one of a kind movie, for it is rarified that politico-historical subjects are treated in an animation format. This cinematic experiment has worked out well, as symbolism and abstract depictions are well suited to socio-political drama. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and...Spring is a masterpiece in its witness right. This film treats such difficult subjects as nature v nurture, religion, meaning of life, human tendencies for sin, methods for salvation, etc. Broad and yet underlying in its interpretative scope, the director conveys his musings mainly through visuals set amongst brilliant natural scenery. Dialogues playing second fiddle as a narrative art but are potent nevertheless. The two main characters of the two films are Marjane and the young monk respectively. The character and life story of the young monk holds a better universal appeal, as the director treats his life history via universal metapho rs. In other words, the events, conditions and temptations that confront the young monk are representative of broader humanity. religion is shown in a benign light in Spring, Summer...while it is shown as oppressive in Persepolis. Indeed, in the life of young Marjane, religion (at least those who claim to confirm for it) is authoritative, repressive and cruel. In contrast, in Spring, Summer..., the young monk comes of age by committing mistakes that were discouraged by his religious code. Yet, his owlish master was not prohibitive of those mistakes, although he was well cognizant of their implications. The wise and experienced master allows his ward to learn the realities of life by himself. The master is not indifferent to the wellbeing of his ward, but but austere and understated in his guidance. For the master knows scriptures cannot substitute real life experience and that the young monk will have to eventually find his own way out of worldly temptations. Hence, the process of coming of age for the young monk is by learning to see his own shortcomings. The compassion and warmth of the wise master was also instrumental in his growth. In contrast, in the case of Marjane, the process of coming of age is not through understanding her frailties. To the contrary, she is a invariable girl with normal affections and inclinations reflecting various stages of growth. But the country in which she grows up Iran was going through radical political upheavals. She gets valuable guidance through elders in her family, most notably, her uncle and her grandmother. Her uncle fought the excesses of Shahs regime and was persecuted for the same. Later, when he objected to the oppression of the Islamic regime, he was imprisoned and eventually executed. But he made a profound picture on the formative mind of young Marjane. His words of advice to her stay true to yourself, never compromise on your dignity - would remain as a maneuver beacon to Marjane whenever she is trou bled by social and political circumstances. Her grandmother too reiterates the thoughts of her illustrious uncle and admonishes Marjane whenever she breaches those lofty standards. Marjane grows up, albeit with lots of hurdles en-route, by upholding her principles in light of satisfying authoritarian opposition. She doesnt always win, as illustrated by her sad return to home from Vienna and her short-lived marriage. But, she is the stronger for it. This is evident in her last

Environmental and Consumer Influence Essay Example for Free
Environmental and Consumer Influence EssayExternal factors such as political, legal, hearty, ecological, cultural, technical and business ethics will be discussed. mack Cosmetics slogan reads, Professional makeup artist quality cosmetics ( mac Cosmetics). This slogan all in allows the consumer to know that mack makeup is so good makeup artist use it. It allows the consumer to connect the dots between makeup artists to celebrities to the consumer and the consumer using celebrity worthy harvest-times. With so many other makeup brands mack Cosmetics is known for being bold and colorful from their harvest-feasts to the celebrities they use to advertise and market their products. For example, Nicki Minaj, a well-known medicament rapper known not only for her moot lyrics only when her unique form of dress. She is the flashy and different exactly what macintosh Cosmetics attempts to portray their products to be. Before Nicki Minaj there was Lady Gaga, another example of an o ver-the-top music artist. When describing the psychological and social factors involved in consumer acquire of this product MAC Cosmetics much like every product marketer save researched and studied these factors infra a microscope, figuratively speaking. It is important to understand every aspect of a consumers behavior factor to receive a cleargonr picture on how to market the product. When speaking of consumer psychological and social factors we are speaking of the consumers motives, perception, and attitudes. When analyzing a consumers motives, a motive is defined as a reason for doing something (Merriam-Webster). When equivalence one consumer to another the motives whitethorn not be all the same. Motives can range from simply needing a makeup refill to wanting to use a highly advertised product.Wanting to use a popular product such as MAC can then be a psychological factor. When speaking of a psychological factor we then have to take into consideration the needs of this par ticular consumer. Perhaps this product is utilise by everyone he or she knows and they merely would like to fit in. But this example is most likely take place in a younger consumer, maybe a high school or college student. Another motive that can be introduced is the consumer may feel good wearing this product. Not only because this product does what it advertises but because the consumer likes how they look wearing it.As discussed above, how the consumer feels when wearing the product may allow them to give the perception of flaw little skin. The perception goal given by the models and celebrities used to market the MAC Cosmetics products, they want consumers to feel like they can look just like them. To be realistic everyone has some flaw they would like to clear up or camouflage and when told by a celebrity who is admired and continuously looks flawless, that will affect the decision of the consumers perception of that particular product. It may in addition play an important rol e in which mildews the consumer to purchase this product. The perception given by the advertisement then becomes a motive for the consumer to purchase a product they may have had no intention in purchasing. Attitude also plays an important role in purchasing a product like MAC Cosmetics. Attitude is defined as a feeling or emotion toward a fact or state (Merriam-Webster). A consumers attitude may have several factors. A consumers personality, family, and simply a dislike of someone or something may lure a consumers attitude. The perception MAC marketers attempt to portray in MAC Cosmetics is that their product is used by celebrities and models. And for example, Nicki Minaj, as previously stated above she is a music rapper who seems to have a strong opinion about everything and everyone. Using her as the spokesperson could be safe to say that her attitude describes MAC Cosmetics. Consumers then may give that and assume that by using this product they too can feel strong and outspok en. Social class also has a lot to do with the purchase of MAC Cosmetics.Unlike some well-known makeup brands, for example Cover Girl or Maybelline, MAC is not found in grocery stores or drug stores. MAC Cosmetics is found in higher end department stores such as Nordstrom and Macys and some cities have the MAC Cosmetic stores. The price of the cosmetics is a bit higher than the examples listed above. Which means someone on a budget may not be willing to fork up the extra immediate payment to purchase MAC products. Not saying that you will have to mortgage off your home to purchase MAC Cosmetics but it is definitely a social class factor.Consumers who are or consider themselves in this social class will purchase MAC Cosmetics because like previously discussed, it is not utterly forthcoming and is more expensive than others. The psychological and social factors all play and important influential role in a consumer. The factors of motives, perception, attitudes, personality, family, social class, and reference group all play important roles and each tie into each other in one or many forms. Marketers are fully aware of these factors and ensure their products are able to trigger a consumers sensation in order to have them purchase the product. But along with psychological and social factors there are also external factors to consider. For example there are political, legal, social, ecological, technological, and business ethic external factors that affect a consumers behavior. Some external factors that may influence consumers to purchase the MAC Cosmetic products are social, ecological, and business ethical. As previously discussed a social factor can be influenced by simply allowing the emptor to seem as if they are a part of an unspoken club. MAC Cosmetics allows their consumers to feel that they are receiving only the best money can buy.By MAC only selling their products at high end departments stores it allows the consumer of only those stores to have acces s to the product. For example because MAC Cosmetics is not found just any where consumers who disclose at Wal-Mart would not have access to MAC Cosmetics. This allows consumers in this social bracket to purchase MAC products. Another external factor that maym influence MAC Cosmetics purchases is the ecological factor. These days, many beauty companies are setting an eco-friendly example and MAC Cosmetics is one of them. MAC Cosmetics is offering refillable packaging and compacts, with refills often old for slightly less money (Pollack Boyer). MAC Cosmetics also rewards for being environmentally thrifty by handing out free lipsticks to customers who return five or six empty product containers (Pollack Boyer). Consumers may be incline to support and purchase products from MAC Cosmetics because they are supporting the environment through earth-sustaining and earth-friendly practices. Another external factor that may influence a consumer behavior to purchase MAC Cosmetics is business ethics. For MAC Cosmetics business ethics and ecological factors play hand-in-hand.Along with their ecological practices MAC Cosmetics contribute to the reasonably trade and community. Fair trade means paying a fair price for outsourced labor, while community trade creates long-term economic initiatives to ensure sustainability deep down the communities in which ingredients are extracted (Pollack Boyer). MAC Cosmetics and other companies are not only transforming their own products, but also supporting others who are helping the environment (Pollack Boyer). As discussed above the analysis of consumers behaviors have many different factors and each consumer situation is different.MAC Cosmetics may not be for everyone but they try hard to be for everyone. Marketers ensure to stimulate all aspects of consumers psychological and social factors and their external factors. Some examples were given for each factor in order to better understand a consumer and their reasons for purchasi ng the MAC Cosmetics products. MAC Cosmetics advertises to have more than 100 shades for eyes, lips, and face, everything a makeup addict cannot live without, you be the judge. REFERENCES Bagozzi, R.
